Calling You

Sitting here alone,
Time has stopped
I hear distant laughter,
            from a different plane
People peering in,
Amazed at this strange creature.
Those that are in with me, here,
            cover their faces
The light is too bright
I must burn alone.
My sides hurt from time to time
Reminding me of how much I’ve laughed
            I bear the pain.
Keep laughing
Defiance is in my soul.
Soon, I may be too old to live like this
Stranded alone, I’ll crumble
Things must change,
And that…. is where you come in
